 Richard Markel: Association Director

Richard Markel has produced bridal shows every year for the last 22 years. The name of his show, Bridal Expo, is service marked in California. Over the last year, Richard has networked extensively with bridal show producers throughout the country. In so doing founded and for its first year directed the BSPI (Bridal Show Promoters International).
In August 1995, he formed the Association for Wedding Professionals to provide a marketing resource for people from all segments of the wedding industry.
In 1996 he founded the Bridal Show Producers Int'l, an association for that industry.
Richard is a nationally recognized authority on the wedding industry. He was a guest on two of CNBC-TV's business shows, interviewed by the New York Times about wedding sites on the internet, ABC News, CBS TV and interviewed by Time Magazine about the wedding business. He was guest speaker at Mobile Beat's national DJ conference in January 97. And is interview frequently for newpapers across the US.
Richard also serves as a resource for local media such as the Sacramento Bee, TV 3 and others. Bridal Expo has been featured on local news reports and two local television shows.
Where will we be in the year 2010, the excitement of watching this organization grow from its humble beginings of 20 members to over 800 in 18 countries & 38 states. We are setting our goals to assist all wedding professionals to reach their dreams.

 Julia Markel: Vice President,
CFO & Administration
Julia's background in journalism gives great assistance to AWP's promotional, publicity and editorial objectives.
During the past 10 years, Julia has overseen the operations and planning of Bridal Expo bridal shows, coordinated fashion shows, organized giveaway weddings at Bridal Expo, and developed the Wedding Games.
Julia is also the Chief Financial Officer for Mar-Nel Productions, the parent company to both AFWPI and Bridal Expo.
